Llafur invites you to our latest online event and 2024 AGM.

In volume 4 number 2 of Llafur (1985), editors Deian Hopkin and Merfyn Jones reflected on the ‘Great Miners Strike’ of 1984-5, arguing that, ‘As historians, even labour historians, we cannot deal adequately with such short term developments. As members of the community, however, we can and must respond and learn from what has happened’.

40 years on, join us for a conversation exploring the experiences of those men and women who fought to save their way of life, and the legacy of the miners’ strike for coalfield communities today. Guest panellists include Ceri Thompson, Christine Powell and Dai Donovan.
